A 43-year-old timber contractor, Aluko Ramoni, has been struck dead by thunder, while cutting an iroko tree in ifira Akoko, Ondo State. Confirming the incident the Divisional Police Officer, Isua Akoko, Biodun Ojediran, stated that Aluko and one of his business partners, Gbenga Oniyere, were in the farm, yesterday, when the incident occurred.
After the incident, people of Ifira contacted the sango (god of thunder) worshipers as it was a taboo to touch such corpse. However, where his corpse should be buried reportedly generated controversies. The traditional worshippers reportedly insisted that he should be buried in the forest, going by the cause of his death. But his family members preferred that he be buried at home.
